Azimut Yachts, based in Viareggio, Italy, have just completed the first of their new flagship Open Line series with the launch of the breathtaking 86S. As one of the world’s leading luxury motor yacht builders, Azimut produce more than 250 boats each year for discerning clients around the world.
Their first client for the new Open Line 86S was Formula 1 racing driver, Juan-Pablo Montoya. In the competitive world of motor racing, performance is critical and in the specification of his new yacht, Montoya was unwilling to accept any compromise.
The client and his representatives met with Azimut and Linn in 2005 to discuss the specification of the yacht and plan the configuration of the on-board entertainment system. The brief was to recreate the quality of Linn that he first experienced in a friend’s Aston Martin DB9 and to provide the perfect system for entertaining aboard the yacht.
At the heart of the system is a Linn Kivor Music Library, providing hard-disc storage of more than 2500 hours of music. The system provides music to eight zones on the yacht, including, the owner’s cabin, the owner’s bathroom, VIP cabins and all decks. The music can be controlled independently in each of these main rooms, and most rooms are also equipped with their own personal systems including DVD and CD from Unidisk 2.1 and the amazing Classik Movie system, and satellite television receivers.
